Xbox One and Kinect v.2

Launching Xbox One Micrososft declared that there could be no Xbox One without Kinect and started selling Kinect as unit of Xbox One. Such a forced bundle draw the fire of users as it made s whole system $100 more expensive over the competing PlayStation 4. Despite it, Microsoft considered that Kinect would be like selling Xbox without a power cord. As Xbox’s Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, Yusuf Mehdi told, “The original vision we had for Xbox One [was as] an all-in-one entertainment device, and it still is, even with the $399 SKU. You still get Xbox One where you can still watch live TV, do two things at once, input switch.”

So Microsoft surprised everyone by announcing the fact that the console would be available at a $399 price point minus the formerly bundled Kinect motion/voice control system.

Moreover, Microsoft lauched Kinect Adapter for Windows that enables user to connect a Kinect for Xbox One sensor to Windows 8.0 and 8.1 PCs and tablets. This means that developers can use their Kinect for Xbox One sensor to create Kinect v2 solutions, and consumers can experience Kinect v2 apps on their computer by using the Kinect for Xbox One sensor they already own.

$100 price cut of a Kinect-free version of Xbox One brings it in line with PlayStation 4, making it more competitive. After the reduce of price on Xbox One in USA, sales of game console reached the number of 10m units, and we hope, will continue to grow while developers will continue creating outstanding solutions with Kinect v.2.
